City of La Grande beginning leaf removal Monday, October 6

LA GRANDE — (Release from La Grande Public Works) The City of La Grande Public Works Department will start the annual leaf removal project beginning at 6:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025 and will continue until all streets have been cleaned once, or until winter weather stops the process. City Crews will start in the area of the Memorial Pool, moving south and then east. Please refrain from parking on the street when leaf removal operations are in your area as street sweepers will be following.
The leaf removal project is to remove the leaves from the streets to prevent them from clogging the storm water sewer system. Citizens are reminded that this project is to remove the leaves that fall in the streets only. Please, do not rake or otherwise place leaves in the roadways.
If crews see evidence that leaves have been moved from private property to the street, the leaves will not be removed. Remember, if you have garbage service, you may dispose of leaves for free at the City Garbage site on Hwy 30.
