JOHN DAY – The City of John Day has a public hearing set for June 25th regarding the city’s budget. City Manager Melissa Bethel was on KJDY’s Coffee Time on Friday, and provided the latest update on the budget:
“It’s pretty bare bones, but at the same time, I think one of the most exciting things that we added was the $100,000 line item to the Grant County Sheriff, so we can contract with them and see if we can get a little more help in John Day with some policing.
It’s not going to go very far, but it’s a good start. It’s a reach out to them. I’ve heard some good feedback about that. ”
Sheriff Todd McKinley has previously expressed that approximately half or more of their calls to service are within the city of John Day. Keep an eye on the City of John Day’s website for details on the hearing.
