City lifts ban on outdoor recreational fires

LA GRANDE – The City of La Grande Fire Department, late last week announced a ban on Outdoor Recreational Fires has been removed. The city is lifting the ban on outdoor recreational fires and charcoal Bar-B-Ques effective immediately. Citizens wishing to have a recreational fire shall:
Notify the Fire Department prior to commencement
Fires cannot be within 25 feet of a structure
Immediate area around fire is to be cleared of dry vegetation
A person must be in attendance until fire is extinguished
A shovel, garden hose connected to a water supply and charged and/or an extinguisher with a minimum 4A rating should be available
