City Council makes decision to discontinue ambulance service

BAKER CITY – A discussion was held at this week’s city council meeting regarding the Baker County Ambulance Service Plan.  During that meeting an update was given to City Council on four items related to the Ambulance Service.  Those updates included the:

1. History of Ambulance Service in Baker City and Baker County

2. The amendment status of the Baker County Ambulance Service Area Plan

3. Contract negotiations between Baker City and Baker County

4. Staff preparations for the FY 2022-2023 budget as it relates to Ambulance Service.

During the update, was the reading of letter written by Baker City Manager Jonathan Cannon, noting that the Baker County Board of Commissioners would be notifying Baker City with the intention to terminate its Ambulance Service provided to Baker County for the Baker ASA as of September 30, 2022.

A motion was made by the council to approve sending the letter.  That motion was seconded and passed by the commission.
