Cited for Attempt to Elude and Possession of Firearm

BAKER CITY – A traffic stop on Auburn Street and Main Street in Baker City this week led to 36-year-old Sammy Garcia Jr. of New Mexico being cited for Attempt to Elude and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
According to reports from Oregon State Police in Baker County, when attempting a traffic stop the suspect vehicle eluded OSP, who terminated the pursuit. Baker County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police attempted to locate the suspect vehicle without success. The driver was later contacted on Pocahontas Rd and Adams Rd in Baker City. The driver, Sammy Garcia Jr., a convicted felon, consented to a search of the vehicle. A semi-automatic handgun was seized as evidence. Garcia was cited and released for Attempt to Elude (vehicle) and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
