NORTH POWDER & UNION – A reminder for Union County motorists, ODOT is set to begin chip sealing work in and between the cities of North Powder and Union. For North Powder residents, ODOT crews will begin chip sealing 2nd street (Highway 237) this week (though likely starting later in the week according to the city) and continue through July 12. All side street access to second street will be detoured through E street where motorists will be guided through the work zone via pilot car. The city asks residents to have all vehicles moved off the 2nd street right of way prior to work beginning. Any vehicles left parked when work begins will be towed.
For anyone traveling between La Grande/Island City, Union, and North Powder, ODOT crews will chip seal portions of Highway 203 and 237 from July 15 through July 25. The specific work zone will stretch from roughly the intersection of Highway 203 and Pierce Road, through Union, and on to North Powder along Highway 237. Drivers should prepare for slowdowns and delays.
For Union residents specifically, Union Public Works will also be chip sealing a portion of South 4th street between West Dearborn and West Arch Street later in the month. Tentatively, work is planned for July 17-19, though residents will be notified of the specific dates at a later time.
