SENECA – Multiple agencies responded to a fire at the Seneca Pole Mill on Wednesday afternoon. Dispatch logs indicate that on June 26th at about 2:18 p.m., the Seneca Fire Department, the John Day Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Forestry crews were dispatched to the fire that started in a chip pile. The blaze grew to four acres in size. Containment information has not yet been listed. At about 9:22 p.m. Wednesday night, another call came into dispatch regarding flames at the location. Another fire was reported Wednesday afternoon, north of Long Creek. Oregon Department of Forestry and Long Creek Fire Department responded to a grass fire along Highway 395, near milepost 87.5. Wildcad reports that blaze, named the Pass Fire, grew to about three-and-a-half acres before firefighters reached containment. A cause has not been listed.
