UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Sunday morning from 422512 Reith Road regarding a chimpanzee that was out of its cage and had bit an adult female, the owner’s daughter. The address is for Brogoitti’s Animal Rescue.

A deputy arrived to find the daughter was trapped in the basement bedroom and was in need of immediate medical assistance. She suffered several bits to her torso, arms, and legs. In order to render aid, the deputy put down the chimp at the request of the owner.

After the chimp was down, aid was rendered to the female. Both the owner and her daughter were taken to St. Anthony Hospital for treatment. The sheriff’s office did not describe why the owner also needed treatment.
