UMATILLA COUNTY – The George Murdock Eastern Oregon Regional Child Abuse Conference will gather for its third year this spring. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said the training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and child advocates is now a “perennial event” and planning for next year is already in the works.
Primus credits Chief Deputy District Attorney Jaclyn Jenkins for being the driving force.
“Jackie is really at the forefront of this entire thing,” he said. “Then you have Kathleen Davidson and Brandi Reddington in the office.”
He said the Guardian Care Center is also vital to the operation.
The idea for a training conference in Eastern Oregon came about because in order to receive specialized information, those involved had to commit to attend sessions that were only being held on the west side of the state. Well over 100 people have participated in each of the first two conferences.
This year’s conference will be from April 22-25, with a pre-conference session on April 21 and a golf tournament on April 26 at Wildhorse Resort and Casino. More details are available at https://sites.google.com/umatillacounty.gov/conference/home.
