Chihuahua is rescued in house fire

PENDLETON – Two people were displaced when a fire started in a fourplex at 10007 Southeast Byers Avenue. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the room where it started.

The call came in at 1:59 p.m. to Pendleton Fire & Ambulance. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 2:03 p.m. and extinguished the blaze at 2:11 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to have been an accidental electrical blaze, Fire Chief Jim Critchley said.

There were no injuries and firefighters rescued a chihuahua. Critchley said the American Red Cross has been notified and will help the two people.
