PASCO – Ten people escaped injury after their charter jet experienced a mechanical issue and caught fire Tuesday morning at the Tri-Cities Airport.
Pasco Fire Department Public Information Officer Ben Shearer said the aircraft, identified as a Cessna Citation, landed with its landing gear up and skidded down the runway before catching fire around 7 a.m.
Airport firefighters were immediately on the scene and assisted in safely evacuating the passengers and extinguishing the fire. Shearer said no injuries were reported.
The runway was temporarily closed but has since reopened and normal operations have resumed at Tri-Cities Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
