Cause of death, memorial service announced for WWFD engineer

WALLA WALLA – The investigation is complete into the death of Walla Walla Fire Department engineer Ryan Pleasants, 41, who was found deceased in his bed at Fire Station No. 1 on Sunday morning, Jan. 7. Deputy Fire Chief Eric Wood said an autopsy confirmed a significant cardiac event had occurred.
In a statement released today (Friday), Wood said the death certificate listed physical and mental stress from work as contributing factors to his death.
A memorial service is planned for family and close friends on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service open to the public on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Walla Walla Community College Dietrich Dome.
