JOHN DAY – April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Grant County CASA Program Manager Christina Barnhart-Speakman was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and informed listeners that volunteer advocates undergo a type of “trauma-informed training” to better understand cases of abuse and neglect:

“That’s one thing we’re learning with the trauma-informed training is how important just one person can be. One person that they can count on, one person that’s a constant…and that they can learn, you know, to trust someone and have that trustworthy relationship with an adult.”
