CASA advocates undergo โ€œtrauma-informed trainingโ€

JOHN DAY โ€“ April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Grant County CASA Program Manager Christina Barnhart-Speakman was on KJDYโ€™s Coffee Time and informed listeners that volunteer advocates undergo a type of โ€œtrauma-informed trainingโ€ to better understand cases of abuse and neglect:

โ€œThatโ€™s one thing weโ€™re learning with the trauma-informed training is how important just one person can be. One person that they can count on, one person thatโ€™s a constantโ€ฆand that they can learn, you know, to trust someone and have that trustworthy relationship with an adult.โ€
