BAKER CITY – Beverly Calder is now mayor of Baker City, for the second time this year.
Calder was elected by the City Council during its regular meeting on the evening of August 8.
The council had chosen Calder as Mayor in January, but then removed her in April and replaced her with Matt Diaz.
Diaz resigned in June because he was moving out of the city and was no longer eligible to serve.
During the meeting on August 8th, the council voted 4-3 for Calder to become mayor once again.
Calder and councilors Boston Colton, Ray Duman and Jason Spriet voted yes for Calder.
Councilors Dean Guyer, Nathan Hodgon and Johnny Waggoner Sr. voted no.
Under city charter, the Baker City Council chooses the mayor, not the voters.
