Byram retires as Pendleton’s assistant city manager

PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton has announced the retirement of Chuck Byram, the assistant city manager and former police chief. He is stepping down as of Aug. 31 after five months in his latest position.

Byram is a Pendleton native who joined the police department in 2000. He served the department in numerous roles ending with police chief. His latest job has been to work with City Manager Robb Corbett to support city operations, long-term planning, interdepartmental coordination, and organizational efficiency.

“Chuck has been a dedicated public servant to the city of Pendleton for more than 26 years,” Corbett said in a prepared release. “We thank him for his many years of professional and committed service to our community and wish him the very best in the future.

Byram said he has had a long and fulfilling career with the city.

“Now it is time for me to start a new chapter in my life,” he stated. “I want to thank you and the city of Pendleton for allowing me to be a part of helping shape the future of our community.”

Operations will continue without interruption, according to the news release. Corbett and the existing administrative team will manage the responsibilities of the assistant city manager position while the city evaluates next steps.
