BURNS-Burns senior standout pitcher Ayla Davies has achieved a feat few Oregon athletes can even dream of.
Davies recently surpassed 1,000 career strikeouts. She accomplished the feat in a Hilanders win over Elgin during the Union Softball tournament. According to the OSAA, she now sits in sixth place on Oregon’s all-time high school record book, and the season is just beginning.
Her talents weren’t just limited to the mound, she also batted .800 for the weekend.
For her efforts during her huge weekend, Davies was also named the OSAA Softball Athlete of the Week.
Burns softball, the two-time defending champions, are currently 7-2 on the season and ranked No. 5 in the state. The Hilanders return to the diamond for a doubleheader against Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa at home on Friday, April 5. First pitch of the first game is 1:00pm.
