Pendleton-At the Multiple district 36 Region G (MD-36 G) meeting held in Pendleton on March 31-April 1, 2023, Burns Lions Club member Pete Runnels was elected to the next Region G District Governor. District G includes most communities east of the Cascade Mountain Range. There are 28 active clubs in Region G.
Runnels has been a member of the local Lion’s Club since 2011 and has held the local office of President twice and is the current Secretary for the Burns Club. He has also been zone chair at the district level. He will be only the 4th District Governor from Burns to serve in this capacity since the club inception in 1942. Previous Burns District Governors were H.G. Dickerson 1965-66, A.E. ‘Al’ Starns 1970-71 and George Sahlberg 1999-00.
“I’m looking forward to this opportunity to further the purpose of Lion’s International and to see firsthand all the good things Lion’s do for our own communities around the region and state. Visiting each club in Region G will be a great learning tool. I will carry my theme and message to each club and learn from and about them as I go.” said DG Elect Runnels.
