Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team 4 will be transferring command of the fires over to California CIMT 4.
Bald Mountain Fire

Resources are focusing efforts on the southwest corner of the fire near Riddle Creek and securing lines to the northwest near Anderson Mountain Road. The Riddle spike camp is being fully taken down, resources are continuing mopup and beginning suppression repair.
Jackass Butte Fire
Size: 24,724 acres Containment: 92% Personnel: 54
Reported: July 24, 2026
Crews are continuing suppression repairs, focusing on dozer line repair on the west side along Jack Mountain Road and ongoing improvements along the Interstate 205 corridor. Crews are still engaged in areas with smoldering peat vegetation, using water resources to keep those areas moist.
Weather: Tomorrow’s high is 88 degrees with dry conditions. Relative humidity will fall into the low teens, supporting moderate burning conditions. Winds will be northwest 8–12 mph through the afternoon.
Closures and Safety:
The Malheur National Forest implemented Stage C of Public Use Restrictions (PURs) and Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) IV. https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/malheur
Motorists along Highways 78 and 205 should remain alert for firefighting equipment in the area.
