Burned Area Emergency Response Roadwork to Temporarily Close Hat Point Road

JOSEPH (Release from U.S. Forest Service) The Hells Canyon National Recreation Area is advising visitors that National Forest System Road 4240, better known as the Hat Point Road, near the town of Imnaha will have daily closures from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting December 13, 2022, through December 23, 2022, to complete post-fire road work associated with Burned Area Emergency Response from the Double Creek Fire. This road work includes cleaning ditches, culvert inlets, and installing ditch relief culverts.

Signs will be posted to warn travelers at the junction of Hat Point Road, NFSR 4240 and Oregon Highway 350 near Imnaha, OR.

Travelers are advised to plan accordingly when visiting parts of the Forest affected by the road work. For additional information about the temporary closures please call the Wallowa Mountains Office at 541-426-5546.
