PENDLETON – Pendleton police finally captured burglary suspect Colten Kee Nez, 31. Police Chief Chuck Byram reports that someone had broken into Highly Active on Main Street and stolen three longboards, valued at about $160 each, and causing more than $1,000 in damage to a window that was broken out to gain access.

A detailed description of the stolen merchandise helped a patrol officer identify one of the boards in the possession of Nez, whom he knew, on Sunday. The suspect fled and abandoned the skateboard, which was confirmed to have been stolen from the Main Street business.

Later Sunday, Nez was located at The Marigold where he resisted arrest and fled, ending up in the laundry room.

“There, Nez continued to actively resist arrest, but officers were able to take him into custody,” Byram reported. “During the arrest, a large knife fell out of the waistband of Nez.”

One police officer was injured in the scuffle, but did not require treatment. Nez was provided medical attention due to his complaint of pain and his history of controlled substance use. He was admitted to St. Anthony Hospital.

Upon his release, he was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree theft, two counts of second-degree escape and two counts of resisting arrest.
