GRANT COUNTY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently. He said things have been especially busy for his department here lately:
“There’s been a lot of criminal stuff going on. We’ve had a lot of burglaries lately that we’re highly concerned about and trying to get a handle on.
There’s a potential down the line that it looks like we may be taking the city [of John Day] on, so it’s going to double our workload and hopefully we get the people to be able to cover that.”
The Sheriff said if the department has to take over policing for the city, the extent of the coverage will depend largely on funding.
Sheriff McKinley noted that many of the burglaries lately have been in the outlying areas of the county, and suggested folks set up trail cameras wherever possible.
