Bureau of Land Management’s Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council to host meeting

Vale-The Bureau of Land Management’s Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet in person in Hines, Ore., on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 28 and March 1. The public is welcome to attend this meeting, which will be held at the Burns District Office, 28910 US-20, Hines, OR 97738. A virtual participation option will also be available and participation instructions will be posted to the RAC’s webpage in advance of the meeting at https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-you/oregon-washington/southeast-oregon-rac.  

The Feb. 28 meeting will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), and the March 1 meeting will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. PT, followed by a field trip to the Burns BLM Wild Horse Corrals. 

Advisory councils consist of up to 15 members that represent diverse interests present in the local community. The Southeast Oregon RAC provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of the Interior on public land resource and management issues in the Vale, Burns and Lakeview districts.  

“The Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council helps ensure collaboration and feedback regarding emerging BLM issues and proposals as we engage with stakeholders and members of the community to improve management of public lands,” Vale District Manager Wayne Monger said. “This diverse group of individuals from across Southeast Oregon share different perspectives and help inform our decision-making.” 

Agenda topics include an orientation to travel management planning, an update on the Vale District’s Tri-state Fuels Environmental Impact Statement, and updates on the Southeastern Oregon and Lakeview Resource Management Plan Amendments. 

Half-hour comment periods, during which the public may address the RAC, will be offered on February 28 at 4:00 p.m. and on March 1 at 9:05 a.m. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.
