BURBANK – Residents on the Port of Walla Walla’s water system along with Columbia School District buildings in Burbank remain under a boil water advisory Tuesday as officials await results from a water test.

The Port sent out a notice last week to all users on their water system including the schools in Burbank that a water main valve replacement would result in the temporary water shutoff followed by the boil water notice. The Port had a planned test of the water on Monday with results expected back Wednesday. Water users will remain under a boil water advisory until that time.

Classes at the school will continue to take place as scheduled during that time, but school officials are taking the following precautions:

• Providing safe drinking water for students and staff. Students are encouraged to bring their own drinking water to school.

• Keeping drinking fountains turned off. Restrooms and hand-washing facilities will remain available for normal use.

• Adjusting breakfast and lunch preparation so tap water is not used for drinking or food preparation.

• Following all recommended precautions while the advisory remains in effect.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as the Port completes their work,” the school district said on their Facebook page. “We will continue working closely with the Port and will communicate with families as soon as we receive Wednesday’s test results or any additional information.”
