Budget work begins Tuesday

PENDLETON – May is the month of budget committee meetings for the city of Pendleton. The first one is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 a.m. City Manager Robb Corbett will give the group a budget overview. The committee will also elect officers and introduce new members.

Corbett’s overview anticipates total general fund revenues of $20,257,780, the bulk of which comes from taxes and special assessments. In his opening report, Corbett said that the federal stimulus funds the city will receive, about $3.4 million, be used to assist the local economic recovery by supporting a plan to attract tourists; restore contingency balances in the general fund; and address the backlog of building maintenance issues in municipal buildings and technology.

A second meeting is set for 7 a.m. Thursday. Meetings are also planned for next week at the same time on Tuesday and Thursday. The Tuesday meetings are held via Zoom. The meeting ID is 812 4344 2051 and the pass code is 588363. The Thursday meetings are in the Vert Club Room.
