MALHEUR COUNTY –In a concerted effort to enhance road safety and raise awareness about the importance of seat belt usage, the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, has announced an extended overtime enforcement initiative. Deputies will be intensifying their efforts to ensure compliance with seat belt regulations through Sunday, February 11.

The initiative, funded by a grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation and supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aims to curb the number of preventable accidents and injuries resulting from failure to use seat belts. The grant provides the necessary resources to extend law enforcement presence on the roads during the specified period.

The extended hours of overtime for law enforcement personnel will allow for heightened visibility and increased enforcement efforts to identify and address seat belt violations. The initiative is part of a broader commitment to creating safer roadways and promoting responsible driving habits within the community.
