ATHENA – The Athena-Weston School District Board of Directors is proposing a general obligation bond measure for the Nov. 4 ballot. The school district is providing information about the bond in a number of ways including via its website, social media, and direct mail. The district has now scheduled two open houses this month.
“We are striving to provide the most complete information about our proposed bond to all of our district stakeholders – students, parents, families, business partners, and community members,” Superintendent Ann Vescio said.
Community open houses are scheduled for the next two Tuesdays – Oct. 7 and Oct. 14. The first one will be held at Weston Middle School. The second is at Weston-McEwen High School. Both begin with tours of the respective campuses at 6:30 p.m. The bond information presentation and a question-and-answer session starts at 7 p.m.
The proposed bond includes a grade level reconfiguration. PreK through fifth grade would be housed in the Weston school. Sixth through 12th grade would be in facilities in Athena. The bond also includes the construction of new sixth through 12th grade CTE/science classrooms and a new main gymnasium.
Details about the bond proposal are at District Bond Information | Athena-Weston School District.
