HEPPNER – Christopher Rich Mollette, 48, of Boise is in Umatilla County Jail after leading Morrow County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a pursuit that ended in Gilliam County Saturday. He is charged with attempting to elude and reckless driving.
“It was an attempt to elude on I-84, traveling at a high rate of speed,” Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said. “He would not stop for Morrow County law enforcement.”
Nelson said the pursuit ended at the Arlington Shell Station, where Mollette was taken into custody. When charges were first filed against him it included interfering with a police animal. Because that alleged crime occurred at the Arlington gas station, Nelson said it will have to be filed by the Arlington County district attorney.
While reckless driving is a misdemeanor, the attempt to elude charge is a felony.
