MILTON-FREEWATER – Milton-Freewater Police Chief Doug Boedigheimer has announced his plan to retire effective February 28, 2023.
“Doug is a rare example of leading by example for his employees – I have never known him a single day to come to work without being dressed in his full duty uniform, taking shifts, backing up officers and providing an example of professionalism with compassion for his department and the community,” City Manager Linda Hall said.
Boedigheimer has been at the helm for the city’s police and dispatch department since April 2007.
“During his tenure, he has increased the number of patrol officers and dispatchers, increased community policing policies, added detective assignments to greatly amplify the case closure statistics and been an active member of the community,” Hall added.
Boedigheimer will retire having spent over 27 years in law enforcement, including chief of police for two other cities before Milton-Freewater. Most recently, he’s been instrumental in planning for the department’s new home which broke ground last Friday.
