Body recovered from Snake River; MCSO leads investigation

NYSSA, OR / PAYETTE COUNTY, ID – The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead on an investigation to identify a body found in the Snake River last Friday. According to the Payette County Sheriff’s Office, a deceased person was recovered from the river north of Nyssa, in Payette County, Idaho near Delmar Avenue. A name of the deceased individual has not been released, and personnel with the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office will provide that information to our newsroom once it comes in.

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 1:00 pm, the Payette County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a citizen about a person in the Snake River near Delmar Avenue. The Payette County Sheriff’s Office Swift water rescue team responded to the location and found a deceased person in the river. Deputies recovered the body from the river. The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead to investigate this death.
