BOARDMAN โ A coalition to help residents in Morrow County get access to clean drinking water made a presentation at the March 4 Boardman City Council meeting.
The mission of the Morrow County Clean Water Consortium is to, โPromote access to safe drinking water throughout unincorporated Morrow County by funding, developing and providing and building projects to provide drinking water to residences affected by nitrate contamination.โ
The consortium is governed by four representatives, two from the Port of Morrow and two from Morrow County. Port of Morrow is represented by its Executive Director Lisa Mittelsdorf, and port Commissioner Kelly Doherty. The Morrow County representatives are county Commissioner David Sykes and county Planning Director Tamra Mabbot. Day-to-day business will be conducted by Morrow County Administrator Matthew Jensen, who was appointed the consortium’s managing director.
The consortium also asked the communities of Boardman and Irrigon to appoint a representative to the consortium, and to help select community members who did not live in city limits who would act as an advisor to the consortium.
City Manager Brandon Hammond asked the council for permission to locate the three community members to present, which the council approved. Hammond also recommended the cityโs engineer of record, Mike Lees, to be city’s representative which the council also approved.
