PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners meets at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday), and one of the items on the agenda is a request that the board authorize the formation of a Courthouse Planning and Needs Assessment Committee. That committee was already formed by Commissioner Dan Dorran without informing Commissioner John Shafer or Chairman George Murdock.
The board will also consider hiring Merchant McIntyre Associates in a quest to increase the grants and funding the county receives from the federal government. Merchant McIntyre bills itself as the leading federal grants agency specializing in serving local governments and nonprofits.
Other items on the agenda include appointing Sam Tucker of Weston to the planning commission, signing an asphalt oil contract, and creating a new position in the public health department.
The meeting is streamed live on the county website. In addition the call-in number for the public is 541-728-0275.
