JOHN DAY – Folks will likely begin seeing the Blue Mountain Hospital District’s new red ambulance on the streets and responding to emergencies.

This is the first new ambulance to the fleet in a decade. Back in November, EMS Director Rebekah Rand mentioned to KJDY listeners that the new ambulance is equipped with advanced auto-load technology to reduce lifting strain:

“So, the auto-load is the gurney that the patient is on…You basically just hook it up to the back of the ambulance. It does all the work for you, and all you have to do is basically push it in. It retracts the legs and bears all the weight, so the lifting is very, very minimal.”

BMHD reports, “This new ambulance was made possible thanks to a portion of AirLink members’ fees which are dedicated to the ‘Ambulance Replacement Fund.’ This marks an important step forward for EMS in Grant County.”
