JOHN DAY – Blue Mountain Hospital District Trauma Program Coordinator Mindy Stinnett was on KJDY’s Coffee Time on Monday and explained the importance of having some first aid knowledge—particularly those who live and operate in rural areas like many of us do.
The hospital will offer a free Stop the Bleed training to community members next week, according to Stinnett:
“It’s the American College of Surgeons who led this collaborative in conjunction with other emergency and military agencies to figure out how we can teach people within the community how to stop that bleeding. Because, it is found that that is the number-one cause of preventable death when people are injured; that people bleed to death before professional help can get to them.”
Stop the Bleed is a nationwide program. The training will be held at the Prairie City Public Works building on Tuesday, March 19th, at 5:30 p.m. Attendees get a free Stop the Bleed kit. To sign up, call Blue Mountain Hospital at (541) 575-1131.
