PENDLETON – Blue Mountain Community College has been awarded a $7,000 grant from the Oregon TRIO Association to support its TRIO Student Support Services. The grant will be used to further expand technology access for students. It will build on last year’s initiative which provided take-home laptops. The new grant will enable students to meet a wider range of technological needs.
BMCC’s TRIO Student Support Services program serves more than 100 students, most of whom are first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds. The college is committed to ensuring that students have the tools needed to excel in their studies.
“This funding allows us to continue bridging the digital divide for our students,” BMCC Trio Student Support Services Executive Director Matt Bisek said. “While last year’s grant focused on providing take-home laptops, this new funding will support additional technology needs that enhance student learning and program students.”
The TRIO SSS program at BMCC also provides academic support including tutoring, study skills development, assistance with course selection, help with financial aid, and scholarship applications. More information is available at https://bluecc.edu/services/trio.
