PENDLETON – Blue Mountain Community College President Mark Browning has met area lawmakers and is impressed with their knowledge and support. He says it’s his job to forge a strong partnership with them.
“It’s my job and our job not to just go tugging on their shirtsleeve and say, ‘Hey, senator, I need more,’” he said. “What we need is a better understanding of what we’re doing and how they can partner with us.”
Browning said he’s eager to tackle the east-west divide.
“The west side of the state needs to understand what the east side of the state contributes,” he said. “We need to appreciate that their lives are different too, and we have to work together.”
Working together occurs through communication and building relationships, and Browning said he’s ready to do that.
