BMCC, MCSD receive Oregon Department of Energy incentives

SALEM – The Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) has selected 63 recipients to receive more than $900,000 in the second round of Early Compliance Action and Planning Program incentives. Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) and the Morrow County School District (MCSD) were among the recipients.

The funding is to help building owners offset the costs of early planning activities like energy benchmarking or energy audits that are associated with complying with the Building Performance Standard.

BMCC received two awards. One is for Morrow Hall and the other is for the McCrae Activity Center on the main campus in Pendleton. Each of the $10,000 awards was to offset the costs of early compliance with the Building Performance Standard. The funding will be used to complete energy benchmarking and reporting for each building, which is required for all Tier 2 buildings in Oregon.

MCSD also received two $10,000 awards. One is for A.C. Houghton Elementary School in Irrigon and the other is for Sam Boardman Elementary School in Boardman. Each of those awards is for the same goals mentioned in the BMCC award above.

ODOE will finalize the agreements with the awardees and outline their responsibilities for receiving the funds.

“The Oregon Department of Energy is proud to support building owners in their efforts to comply with Oregon’s Building Performance Standard,” ODOE Director Janine Benner said. “Energy efficiency is one of the five key pathways identified in the Oregon Energy Strategy to move toward a clean energy future that maintains affordability and reliability.”
