PENDLETON – The Blue Mountain Community College Rodeo teams are sitting in strong positions as the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) finals approach.

Coach Trevor Patterson said on Monday that BMCC’s men’s team is in second place in the standings, and added that the women’s team is doing even better.

“They have a pretty commanding lead over Treasure Valley and Walla Walla going into the last part of this season, which is awesome,” he said.

The first- and second-place teams in the NIRA get to send all their members to the national finals rodeo.

The Blue Mountain Equine Center just west of the Pendleton Convention Center will be the scene of the conference finals. Built to be the home of the rodeo team, that’s the first major event to be hosted there on April 24 and 25.

Tickets for the finals are available at 2026 Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals – Presented by CHI St Anthony Hospital Tickets | BMCC Rodeo Boosters, Inc..
