PENDLETON – Blue Mountain Community College is getting ready for graduation. The ceremony will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center.
“It is the culminating event of the year,” President Mark Browning said. “It’s the end of the academic year. We’ll have 273 graduates this year.”
Those graduates span generations. They range in age from 17 to 74. Browning said that shows people are never too young or too old to learn. Umatilla High School alone has eight students who are also completing their transfer degrees.
In addition to the Oregonians graduating, there are students from Washington, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Pennsylvania who are earning diplomas. Of the 273 students, 91 are graduating with honors.
The graduates who have earned registered nurse certification will take part in the ceremony, but will also be honored at the traditional nurse pinning ceremony at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Bob Clapp Theater in Pioneer Hall.
