HERMISTON – The men and women of Blue Mountain Community College rodeo have a shot at a national title.
BMCC finished second in both men’s and women’s at the Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center in Hermiston.
Treasure Valley Community College won both the men’s and women’s team titles, but BMCC secured its spot at the National Finals in Wyoming with its second place finishes.
The top two teams and top three athletes in each event advance to nationals, which June 10-15 in Casper, Wyoming.
Representing the Timberwolves at Nationals will be Kennedy Buckner, who won the women’s all-around title and will compete in three events at nationals.
Other BMCC women heading to Wyoming include Taylor Jones for breakaway and team roping and Mecarte Cook in goat tying. Representing the BMCC men will be Hunter Greenup, who won the bareback event. Parker Buchanan for bull riding, Chad Gomes qualified for steer wrestling, Luke Brannon, Wyatt Skovgard and Cutter Marsh for team roping.
