Blue Mt. Ranger District’s broken gates to be replaced

JOHN DAY – (Press Release from the Malheur National Forest)

The Blue Mountain Ranger District has replaced four gates on previously closed roads. These gates are located on Forest System Roads 1518790, 2140000, 3670200, and 3920830. These closed roads were previously accessible due to damaged gates, which have been replaced and will be locked to motorized use on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. 

Road closure proposals are evaluated during the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis which includes a public comment period. These roads were closed under the previous NEPA Decisions: Billy Salvage Decision Notice; Fawn Timber Sale Decision Notice; Can Timber Sale Decision Notice; and Ragged Ruby Record of Decision.
