WALLA WALLA – Blue Mountain Humane Society is at full capacity and is hosting a special open house this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so people can get to know cats and dogs in need of loving homes. This month, the emphasis is on canines.

For the month of April, adoption fees for all adult dogs have been reduced to $15 and include spay/neuter, vaccines, license, microchip, and a voucher for a free, initial appointment with a local veterinarian. Puppy adoption feeds are half price. Adoptable dogs can be found at https://bluemountainhumane.org/dogs.

Interested adopters can fill out the online application and visit BMHS at 7 E. George St. during normal operating hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. If the dog is in foster care, call 509-525-2452 to schedule a time for the foster family to bring the dog to the shelter. Those with other pets or kids can bring them along for a supervised introduction.

Blue Mountain Humane Society is a no-kill shelter with a 97.6 percent live release rate. Last year, BMHS staff cared for 1,820 animals, provided 3,338 spay/neuter surgeries, returned 438 lost pets to their homes, and found permanent homes for 1,250 companion animals.
