Birch Creek Fire Burning East of Huntington

Update as of 7/18/23 at 9:00 am: According to a representative with the Bureau of Land Management, “Containment lines held overnight, resources stayed on scene overnight.” Crews are popping up and monitoring this morning.

Update as of 6:45pm: According to fire information resources, The Birch Creek Fire is now reported at 600 acres. No further information is available at this time.

Update as of 4:05 pm: According to BLM, The Birch Creek Fire is now 350 acres in size. Muliple large air tankers are assigned and crews are position for burnout operation off I-84 near Weiser Exit 355.

UPDATE at 2:20 p.m.: The Birch Creek Fire is estimated to be 30 to 50 acres in size on BLM and private land. An air attack has been mounted, two SEATS, two dozers, three Type 4 engines, three Type 6 engines. Assistance is en route from the Wallowa-Whitman and Payette National Forests and Burns Bureau of Land Management. Structures are threatened.

We are receiving reporting of a fire near I-84 at milepost 353, 7 miles east of Hungtington. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) along with other agencies are on scene. No further details have been released at this time. We will update when more information is available.
