HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council will consider awarding Griffin Construction of The Dalles the contract to build a new city hall complex. The company’s bid is $8,660,000.This item was delayed at the last council meeting.

The council will also consider a resolution that would name Cameron Bendixsen as one of Hermiston’s municipal court judges pro tem. The city had appointed three judges pro tem in 2015, but due to conflicts of interest and schedule availability the appointment of the Hermiston native is being suggested to the council.

Also before the council is a proposal by CGI Communications that would see the production, installation, and maintenance of at least 25 decorative banners to go on city-selected poles in the downtown area. CGI would then seek sponsors for the signs, but whether there are sponsors or not, they will be put up and taken care of for three years. The city has identified 36 viable poles in the downtown core for the project. It will not cost Hermiston anything.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at the Hermiston Community Center. It will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
