Beautification award winners for La Grande announced

LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Parks and Recreation) The home of Meredith Matthews, 601 M Avenue, has been selected for the City of La Grande summer beautification award. Meredith has replaced the lawn in her yard and parking strip with native plants and other perennials to create a diverse, pollinator friendly, low maintenance landscape.
The beautification award for a commercial property was given to Eastern Wheelworks at 711 Adams Avenue. Business owner Sean Lerner credits his mother-in-law Suzanne Funk for maintaining the colorful planting beds and Valley Lawn and Landscape for installing the landscaping and pavers. The Beautification Awards Program recognizes residential and commercial properties that add to the beauty, diversity and sustainability of La Grande’s environment.
