Be Ready to Help: Wallowa County organizes volunteer fire assistance network during wildfires

WALLOW COUNTY — (Press release from the Wallowa County Government) With the current fire situation, we are putting together a simple list of people who may be willing to help if a family, farm, or ranch needs assistance.
For example, someone may need help moving horses or cattle, a place to keep animals for a few days, or an extra trailer to move livestock quickly.
If you have a resource or skill you would be willing to offer, please fill out the short form below. This could include:
• A horse or cattle trailer
• A pickup or other vehicle
• Pasture, corrals, stalls, or barn space
• Experience moving or handling livestock
• Equipment
• General help, if needed
Filling out the form does not commit you to anything. It simply gives us a list of people we can call to see if they are available when a need comes up.
There are currently no evacuation notices or orders in place. However, the Board of Commissioners wants to be proactive and help reduce the potential impact of the fire.
If an evacuation order is issued, please do not enter an evacuation area or show up at someone’s property on your own. We will contact people directly if help is needed and make sure everyone knows where to go and what needs to be done.
Wallowa County is a place where neighbors help neighbors during difficult times. This is just another example of what makes our community so special.
