KENNEWICK — Detectives from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide after a preliminary investigation has led them to believe an assault took place shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. Investigators say Zale Underwood, 70, was stabbed at his residence on the 1100 block of South Gum Street, but an autopsy will be conducted at a later date to determine cause of death.
Officers set up a perimeter and conducted a K9 track in an effort to located any suspects. No suspects were located and the K9 track was called off prior to detectives being called in to investigate.
Detectives are working to develop potential suspects. They will be canvassing neighborhoods for witnesses and video evidence. Anyone with information regarding the homicide of Mr. Underwood is asked to call dispatch at (509) 628-0333.
