BAKER CITY — Baker School District’s Baker Virtual Academy has been expanded as a fully online schooling option for students in kindergarten through grade 12 within the district.

Baker Virtual Academy was originally set up as an online school for K-6 students in the district and was first successfully expanded to K-8 last school year. This year, under the leadership of principal Vanessa Haggett, who is also the principal of Eagle Cap Innovative Jr/Sr High School, a decision was made to open the fully online school to all K-12 students within the district who might benefit from a fully online educational option.

“Baker School District has been an early adopter of online educational opportunities, which really helped us during the recent pandemic,” said Superintendent Erin Lair. “We’re glad to be able to continue to offer a variety of different educational options to students of every age in our district. This seems like a natural step forward for Baker Virtual Academy.”
