BAKER CITY – Baker School District 5J is reminding families that they only have until July 31 to register for fall driver education classes. There are a total of 10 classes held on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9:15.
It is mandatory that parents attend orientation on Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. It is also required that students have their learner permits before the first class. Students are only allowed to miss one class and must make up that class in order to pass.
A fee of $250 must be paid in person by check or cash before the first session. Parents and students are also required to sign a waiver. Students who pass the course will not be required to take another driving skills test at the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a license. They also are reported to save about 15 percent on car insurance and have a 21 percent lower crash rate.
