BAKER COUNTY – (Release from the Baker School District) The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) announced an update to statewide and K-12 indoor face covering rules that will lift the current mask rule beginning March 19, 2022, rather than on March 31, 2022, as previously communicated.
School districts were also notified that changes to statewide Ready Schools Safe Learners guidelines would be communicated early next week.
Baker School District leadership will be meeting with representatives from the local health department to fully understand the new guidelines; and Superintendent Mark Witty continues to meet with State leadership as decisions are made regarding potential changes to quarantine, contact tracing, and testing protocols.
“We appreciate the ability to make decisions with our health department at the local level that we feel are best for Baker students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent Witty. “As new guidance comes in next week, we will share updates on what this will mean for our schools.”
